Organic lycopene project philosophy is to realize a final product which has the potentiality to improve the bioavailability of lycopene extracted from red-ripe tomatoes.

Organic lycopene is the result of the collaboration between a Southern Italy private industry (Pierre Srl - Galatina - Lecce) and two public partners , the University of Salento (Department of Biological and Environmental Science and Technology - Di.S.Te.B.A. - Laboratories of Botany and Cellular Plant Biology; Department Innovation Engineering - Laboratory of General and Inorganic Chemistry) and the CNR-ISPA - Institutes of Bari and Lecce and with the fundamental contribution of the Ministry of Italian Research (MIUR) (Project 7885/55 PAR 2001) .
